The lessons I teach are based on the Mayron Cole Piano Method sprinkled with a lot of my own personalized touches.

I have noticed older beginners tend to be more committed and more passionate about wanting to succeed in learning to play the piano.

They know that anything worthwhile in life takes times and commitment. They tend to be more coordinated than a younger student.

I didn’t start piano lessons until I was almost 13 years old. My dad was 40 years old when he started taking piano lessons and played until he died at age 79.

I supplement the foundational lessons with supplemental trainings in chords so you can learn to accompany yourself like a guitar!

Seriously not many people know that you can do this!  You can sound amazing in just a few sessions when you learn three simple chords!

I also supplement by teaching songs by rote. This basically means I teach you to play a song by copying me. You’ll also be guided to read notes you may not know yet.

Several years ago I was fortunate enough to receive addtional training and was able to study for 8  years under a Master instructor in the line of Franz Liszt!  Franz Liszt was one of the most amazing pianists in the history of the world!

I have been able to take my technique to a whole new level and I will be sharing and reminding you of all my tips and tricks a long the way so you not only learn to play the piano, but also how to sound beautiful!

I also love to supplement my student’s training with Solfege (don’t worry if you don’t understand what Solfege is right now). I will teach you–it’s mind blowing when you realize the power of it –being able to transpose into any key. Again I was not taught this in traditional private lessons!

I would have said years ago, probably not.  However, I have taken several online courses and I absolutely love being able to hit replay or pause.

It is one of the huge advantages over private lessons.  I’m so serious, I was learnng some new stuff online recently and it was so amazing to go back and watch part of the tutorial because I didn’t get it.  Also it’s absolutely amazing to watch over again what I learned the day  before, because you know what–we forget when we see or hear things only one time.    We need multiple interactions and practice before it solidifies in our brain.  Also there are no time restraints put on how much you learn each week.

I see this over again in when I see my private students each week.  If they don’t practice a new concept the day after lessons, they forget!  The bad part is they don’t get to be reminded until a whole other week has gone by. (Time is money!).

It just depends upon how much practice time it takes you to master the material.

Now that all of Levels 1A and 1B are complete, I am in the process of working on Level 2.  Several modules of Level 2 are also ready.  This is where we hit the left hand hard.  A lot of people tell me they quit the piano because they never learned the left hand notes well. That is because most methods move to fast and do not give enough beginning material on the left hand notes.
